"...Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over Little Eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stoned-out faces left stranded on this Fourth of July
Down in town the circuit's full with switchblade lovers so fast so shiny so sharp
And the wizards play down on Pinball Way on the boardwalk way past dark...."
Today, using the mantic art of the iPod shuffle feature, which Apple claims is "random" (its hand is clearly guided, but nay, I know not yet by what), I will divine the future.
Setting the iPod on shuffle, I will begin by playing Bruce Springsteen's "4th of July, Asbury Park."
This was "randomly" followed by:
2. I Want You--Spiritualized
3. Nervous Wreck--The Radio Stars
4. Rough Boys--Pete Townsend
5. Spaceman--Harry Nilsson
6. Different To Me--Wire
7. Striped White Jets--Guided By Voices
8. Please Crawl Out Your Window--Bob Dylan (Bootleg Version)
The present is embodied in 4th of July, Asbury Park - Ta Kuo (Preponderance of the Great): We see a beam that is weak. Under these conditions, there will be advantage in moving in any direction at all. There will be success.
Striped White Jets shows one placing mats of the white mao grass under things set on the ground. There will be no error.
The situation is evolving slowly, and Yang (the active masculine force) is gaining ground.
The future is embodied in Please Crawl Out Your Window - Kuai (Resolve): It is required that the culprit's guilt be exhibited in the royal court, along with a sincere and earnest appeal for sympathy and support, with consciousness of the peril involved in cutting off the criminal. He should also make announcement in his own city, and show that it will not be well to have recourse at once to arms. In this way there will be advantage in whatever he shall go forward to.
The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the first song, Asbury Park--Tui (Lake), which represents joy, pleasure, and attraction.
